The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
Fees Bylaw Revised
Council voted 4-1 in favour of revisions to Schedule A of the Fees Bylaw which staff undertook to update following the passing of the budget this spring. It was noted that the fees bylaw has not been updated since 2018 and Town staff committed to performing an annual review and update moving forward.
Agri-Tourism Event Approved
Following a public meeting in June, council voted in favour of proceeding with an application for a Special Permit Use from the PEI Federation of Agriculture (PEIFA) on behalf of MacKenzie Produce to host Breakfast on the Farm, a one-day event scheduled for Saturday, August 5th, 2023, between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. The event will proceed in conformance with the operational plan submitted on June 26, 2023, with the primary requirement being that all attendees will only be granted access to the site using the provided shuttle service from Stratford Town Centre to MacKenzie Produce.
Stratford Auto Expansion Approved
An application from Stratford Auto to construct an addition of 2,240 sq. ft. at 7 MacKinnon Drive was approved. The application is considered an intensification and requires a Special Permit Use. A public meeting was held in June 2023. The approval is subject to the conditions of the development agreement.
Public Meeting Called
Council approved by resolution to hold a public meeting which will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 7:00pm. The meeting will be to receive feedback on an application from Kinlock EZ Storage to construct an additional 2 self-storage buildings at 15 MacKinnon Drive on parcel number 1133289.
Commercial Building Revised
A resolution was approved for a revision to a 21,428 sq. ft. commercial building on parcel number 1021617, located at 8 Myrtle Street in the Stratford Business Park.
