Media Release: Stratford Launches 7th Annual Survey (January 8, 2018)

For Immediate Release: January 8, 2018

Once again, Town of Stratford residents will have an opportunity to share their thoughts with Council and staff through the Town's 7th annual Resident Survey. Since the survey first launched in 2011, over 800 residents have provided their feedback each year, which then has been used to inform decisions on a variety of topics such as cosmetic pesticides, town services and programs, transit services and much more.

"Year after year we continue to be impressed with tremendous response from residents," commented Stratford Mayor David Dunphy. "Resident engagement is a priority for our Council and staff, and this survey has become a major tool for gathering resident feedback on Town plans and decisions."

This year, in addition to ongoing topics such as health and wellness, safety in the community, environmental protection, town performance, and communications, the survey includes a new series of questions related to satisfaction with specific town services and the impact of potential paperless services.

Also new to the survey will be questions related to the Smoke-Free Stratford initiative. A number of changes are being considered which could include increasing smoke-free areas in the Town as well as introducing potential penalties, and the Town is looking for resident feedback.

"The idea of a Smoke-Free Stratford is based on a desire to improve the health of our community as a whole," shared Dunphy. "Through the annual Resident Survey, we will be looking to hear residents' opinions on the issue of smoking in Stratford and possible changes the Town may pursue as part of this initiative."

Residents can complete the survey online quickly and easily by visiting www.TownofStratford.ca/2018ResidentSurvey, and a print version of the survey will be distributed to all residents in the coming weeks. The deadline for completing the online survey is Monday, February 26th, 2018.
