Media Release: Stratford Encourages Residents to Make Community Resolutions for the New Year
Posted on 01/05/2017

For Immediate Release: December 29, 2016

This year, when making annual resolutions for personal improvement and development, the Town of Stratford is asking residents to also consider contributing to the wellbeing and growth of the community. Stratford offers many local programs, businesses, services, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives in need of resident participation. "Our vibrant community thrives on the support and involvement of our residents and, in turn, we hope to enrich residents with the unique offerings of the Stratford Community," says Mayor David Dunphy.

Dunphy adds, "Our key resolutions for 2017 are to continue to improve and evolve our sustainability initiatives, to engage our residents to ‘Think Stratford!' and support local, and to promote our road safety strategy, all in an effort to keep our members safe, supported, and surrounded by the best possible community environment."

Stratford residents can assist with these initiatives by taking strides to reduce waste, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions; choosing to support local businesses and services first; and respecting the roadways by slowing down, moving over, and thinking of others.

Community members wishing to become more involved may be interested in volunteering for the Snow Angels program, which provides limited snow removal services on a casual basis for residents in need.

In addition, the Town of Stratford wishes to challenge members to think, not only of what they can do to help the community, but also of what the community can offer, in helping them to achieve their New Year's goals. For those resolving to get healthy, Stratford is home to many health, fitness, and wellness related businesses, such as 3rd Degree Training, and Reactive Health. Need to stress less? Find your center at Now n Zen Yoga Studio, pamper yourself at Simply Aesthetics, or take time to smell the flowers at Bernadette's Flowers.

Mayor Dunphy looks forward to a promising new year, adding "Whatever resolution you make, Think Stratford, and let's make 2017 our most prosperous year ever!"
