Media Release – Stratford Annual Resident Survey
Posted on 01/18/2017

For Immediate Release: January 9, 2017

The Town of Stratford launches its Annual Resident Survey today. Since the first survey in 2012, the input garnered from residents through the survey has provided valuable information to Council on a variety of topics such as cosmetic pesticides, zoning and bylaws, traffic safety, transit services and much more.

"Council and staff turn to the resident survey results regularly when planning and discussing projects for the Town," commented Stratford Mayor David Dunphy. "It has become an important part of how we engage residents and make decisions." Two recent examples of Council using resident feedback from the survey would be the expanded space for the Stratford Library and the establishment of the Community Gardens.

This year, in addition to ongoing topics such as physical activity, governance and safety, the survey includes a new series of topics. These questions ask about residents' thoughts on and use of the Stratford parks and a potential community fund for Stratford.

Community funds are usually established to raise money for programs in a local community. Once created, anyone could donate to the fund and the Town would be able to supply donors with income tax credit receipts.

"The concept of a Community Fund for Stratford has been brought forward and discussed," shared Dunphy. "While a fund could certainly benefit the community, we wanted to know residents' interest and level of support before proceeding further."

Residents can complete the survey online now by visiting the Town website or going directly to www.TownofStratford.ca/Annual-Resident-Survey. A print version of the survey will once again be distributed to all residents in the coming weeks. The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 27, 2017.
