For Immediate Release: April 14, 2016

The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council.

Integrated Software Funding Application

Council approved a resolution in support of an application to the Municipal Strategic Component of the New Deal fund for the purchase of an integrated software suite for the town. The software will improve efficiency and reduce redundancy by consolidating a number of programs like accounting, program registration, facility booking, permitting, and asset management into one package. The software will also improve the ability of residents and stakeholders to conduct their business with the town online. The estimated cost of the software is $125,000 and the application is for 50% of the cost.

Cosmetic Pesticide Bylaw Amendment

Council approved 1st Reading of a Bylaw to amend the Cosmetic Pesticide Bylaw to add "pyrethins" to the allowed list of Pesticides in Appendix A of the Bylaw. Pyrethins were originally excluded from the Bylaw based on comments received from stakeholders but are included in the Nova Scotia allowed list. The intent was always to have the Stratford list of allowed pesticides mirror the list produced by the Nova Scotia Government so that we do not have to build our own expertise.
