For Immediate Release: November 13, 2020
The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, November 12, 2020.
Employee Retirement Recognized
After 23 years of employment with the Town of Stratford, Claire Walker recently retired from her position of lead gardener. Mayor Steve Ogden, on behalf of council and staff, presented Ms. Walker with a plaque and small gift in recognition of her time with the Town and in honour of her retirement. She began as an assistant gardener but for the past 14 years has served the Town as a permanent employee in the role of lead gardener. She is known as a dedicated and caring employee, who brought a positive attitude to work every day.
Committee Appointments
The Town of Stratford adopted a Committee Appointment Policy in 2016 to better ensure that Town committees are representative of the broader community, and that all perspectives are considered as much as possible. More than 80 applicants responded to the Town’s most recent call for community volunteers to serve on the Town’s available committees for the upcoming term of December 1, 2020 thru November 30, 2022. At the November Town Council meeting, the committee members selected were approved by resolution. The remaining applicants will remain on file for this upcoming term to fill potential vacancies that arise and to remain on the Town’s list of residents available to assist with special committee or focus group work required by the Town. The Stratford Seniors Complex Management Sub-Committee and Cross Roads Fire Department Board Members will be appointed in the future.
