The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Text Amendments
Several text amendments have been identified to bring the Zoning and Development Bylaw #45 into conformance with the Provincial Early Learning and Child Care Act and associated regulations. Second reading and adoption of the text amendments were approved.
Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund
A resolution was approved by council supporting two initial applications from the Town of Stratford to be submitted under the Provincial/Territorial stream of the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF). Additional applications may be submitted prior to the close of applications later this year. The CHIF program aims to accelerate the construction and upgrading of housing-enabling drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and solidwaste infrastructure, directly supporting the creation of new homes and increasing densification. This investment is part of the Government of Canada's commitment to address the impacts of the housing crisis on communities of all sizes across Canada.
Committee Member Appointment
A committee member was appointed to fill an existing vacancy on the Town’s Heritage Sub-Committee for the two-year term ending on November 30, 2026.
Engagement Reminders
Residents were reminded of several engagement opportunities currently open as both Town Council and staff look to hear feedback through these opportunities which can be found on the Town’s website at www.townofstratford.ca:
• Draft Budget – The 2025/26 draft budget was presented at a public meeting on March 6, 2025 and feedback through a brief online survey will be open until March 17, 2025.
• Official Plan Review – The final of five public ‘Community Conversations’ were held this week with residents having until March 21, 2025 to provide final comments on any or all of these discussion topics. All presentations and reports are now available for review and comment.
• Annual Resident Survey – The recently opened Annual Resident Survey is a key, annual tool used to hear from residents on a variety of topics. All residents are encouraged to participate and share their feedback now at www.stratfordsurvey.ca.
