The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Subdivision Variance Approved
Stratford Town Council approved a resolution to subdivide parcel number 398412, located at 70 Mount Herbert Road, into two lots. The land is located within an Agricultural Reserve (A1) Zone and requires a minimum lot size of 1 acre (43,560 ft²), however the subdivision application wishes to separate an existing dwelling from the agricultural land with a proposed lot area of only 0.55 acres, which is represents a 45% variance in size.
Public Meeting Called
A application to construct a stacked semi-detached dwelling at 40 & 42 Smallwood Terrace has been received and was approved by resolution to hold a public meeting at a date and time to be determined by staff.
General Text Amendments
A resolution was approved to hold a public meeting at a date and time to be determined by staff to solicit input from residents on proposed text amendments to bring the Zoning and Development Bylaw #45 up to date with the Provincial Early Learning and Child Care Act and associated regulations.
CARI Board Appointment
Stratford Town Council appointed Town of Stratford staff member Rachel Arsenault to the CARI (Capital Area Recreation Inc.) Board of Directors for the 2025 calendar year.
Council Procedural Bylaw Amendment
First reading of an amendment to the Council Procedural Bylaw, Bylaw #47 was held. The amendments include a the discontinuation the Active Transportation Sub-Committee with the work of this sub-committee now reflected in the Infrastructure Committee, with use of Adhoc and one time community volunteers as required; and to discontinue the Arts and Culture Sub-Committee and have the work of this sub-committee now be reflected in the Recreation, Culture, and Events Committee, with use of Adhoc and one time community volunteers as required.
Council Meeting Dates Established for 2025
A resolution was approved outlining the dates for the 2025 calendar year. Stratford Town Council meetings will continue to be held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month with the exception of January 2025 where the meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. All meetings will begin at 4:30pm.
Committee Member Appointments
Committee members were appointed to various Town committees for the two year term ending on November 30, 2026.
