The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Unsightly Premise Violation

Stratford Town Council approved a resolution permitting the Town, or a designated contractor, to enter onto the property at 11 Barkley Avenue to resolve outstanding violations of the Dangerous and Unsightly Premises Bylaw #22. A lien will be placed against the property to recover the costs incurred by the Town through this process.

Cross Roads Rural Community Fire Company Board Appointments

The Town of Stratford has the right and responsibility to appoint seven members to the Board of Directors of the Crossroads Rural Community Fire Company which, by approved resolution, includes Councillor Ron Dowling and six community members for the 2025 calendar year.

Council Procedural Bylaw Amendment

Second reading and adoption of an amendment to the Council Procedural Bylaw, Bylaw #47 was approved. The amendments include the discontinuation the Active Transportation Sub-Committee with the work of this sub-committee now reflected in the Infrastructure Committee, with use of Adhoc and one time community volunteers as required; and to discontinue the Arts and Culture Sub-Committee and have the work of this sub-committee now be reflected in the Recreation, Culture, and Events Committee, with use of Adhoc and one time community volunteers as required.

Resolution to Defer Policy

A resolution was approved to defer the Respectful Workplace Policy for further discussion at an upcoming Committee of the Whole meeting and following that be brought back to Council for decision.

Committee Member Appointments

A committee member was appointed to the Town’s Planning, Development and Heritage Committee for the two-year term ending on November 30, 2026 to fill a vacancy.
