The travelling public is advised that with the Town of Stratford’s ‘Light Up The Night’ Santa Parade and Tree Lighting on Friday, November 29th heavier than usual traffic, along with delays and road closures, are expected south of the Trans Canada Highway in Stratford. The parade will convene on MacKinnon Drive continuing down Glen Stewart Drive and crossing Stratford Road to end at the Michael Thomas Waterfront Park where the tree lighting will occur. Streets in this area will be closed temporarily and heavier than usual vehicular and pedestrian traffic can be expected. Please use caution if travelling in this area between 5pm and 8pm Friday evening. Where possible using alternate routes or adjusting your travel time is recommended.

The Town of Stratford looks forward to celebrating and kicking off the festive season with our residents, and Santa himself will be joining us!

Tips for the public:
• Arrive early (roads will be closed off (and congested) at least 15-30 minutes ahead of the parade but you can expect heavy traffic in the area even prior to this time). Please do not park on the side of the road on Glen Stewart Drive so that children can safely view the parade.
• Car pool (the more we can all travel together, the less congestion there will be)
• Park near by (if you have a friends/family in walking distance please park at their place and walk to the parade route)
• Use active transportation - If you are able to walk or cycle from your home to the site, that is wonderful. We have a great network of sidewalks and trails in our community and would love to see them utilized for this busy night
• Bring your community (and Christmas) spirit, as well as flashlights and glow sticks to wave and light up the night!
• Join us at the waterfront immediately following the parade for the tree lighting, carol singing, cookies and hot chocolate!
• Sirens are being asked to be kept to a minimum for the enjoyment of all in our community. Please use other precautions however if you have someone in your life who may be bothered by the noise a parade may cause. There are many buildings in the area for sound to bounce off of even with reduced use.
• Please dress accordingly for the weather.

Most of all let's have fun and kick of the festive season together. Our team is working hard to deliver this special event for the community with our first ever Santa Claus Parade.
