At the Stratford Energy Champion Award Ceremony on December 14th, Mayor David Dunphy presented two deserving Stratford residents with the Green Energizer Award and Stratford Energy Champion Award for their dedication to energy conservation, climate change, and sustainability within the community.
The Stratford Energy Champion Program is designed to recognize individuals who are leading the way towards energy efficiency and sustainability. The Energy Champion award is given to an eligible applicant of 19 years of age or older; the Green Energizer Youth Award is given to an eligible applicant of 12 to 18 years of age.
This year, the Stratford Energy Champion Award was presented to Len Currie for his strong focus on sustainability and on reducing his personal greenhouse gas emissions. The Green Energizer Youth Award was presented to Lilly Hickox, who is passionate about environmental initiatives and improving active transportation in PEI.
"Both of these award recipients will be a valuable addition to the Stratford Community Energy Plan Committee and will help steer the energy future of Stratford", commented Mayor David Dunphy. "The Town of Stratford would like to thank all of the residents who submitted nominations for these awards".
