The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council.
Presentation to Stratford Energy Champion Award Winners
Mayor David Dunphy presented Len Currie with the 2016 Stratford Energy Champion Award for his strong focus on sustainability and dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Mayor also presented the Green Energizer Youth Award to Lilly Hickox for her passion for environmental initiatives and improving active transportation in PEI.
Board Member Appointment
Council approved a resolution to appoint Councillor Keith MacLean to serve as a member of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) Board of Directors for the remainder of the 2016-17 term. Councillor MacLean will replace former Councillor Diane Griffin, who recently resigned her council seat to join the Senate of Canada and was the Town of Stratford's representative on the board.
Upcoming Events
The Town has a number of upcoming dates for residents to keep in mind in the coming weeks, including free public skates on Tuesday, December 27 and Saturday, January 21st at 3:20pm (Pownal Rink), the New Year's Day Levee on January 1st from 12 noon until 1:30pm, and the final Development Bylaw Review public meeting on Wednesday, January 18th at 7pm.
