The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

Grants and Donations Bylaw Amended

A resolution was approved to amend Schedule A of the Town’s Grants and Donations Bylaw, Bylaw #38. The amendment sees the addition of an Ecole Francois Buote Graduation Prize in the amount of $300 to be provided annually.

Resolution Deferred

After discussion, a resolution to revise the Foxwoods Subdivision Development Scheme for Phase 2 was deferred to a future council meeting. The application revises Phase 2 of the previously approved development scheme and creates eight single dwelling lots as a Sustainable Subdivision, an increase of one lot at the end of Windsor Drive to six total and two lots on Cardiff Lane.

Greener Properties Inc. Street Names

Four street names were approved in the new Greener Properties Inc. subdivision. The Town’s Heritage Committee proposed:

• Brick Maker Lane
• Kiln Way
• Keystone Row
• Red Clay Lane

These names reflect the history of the area where the 1880 atlas shows there were brick kilns located within this area, two on the south side of the road, and another on the north side.

Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program

Council passed a resolution to proceed with applications for the following capital projects identified for ICIP funding in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 town five year capital plan, in priority order:

Council Procedural Bylaw Amendments

First reading was held to amend the Council Procedural Bylaw, Bylaw #47. Included in the amendments are new requirements in the Municipal Government Act for the conduct of electronic meetings which must be enabled, to enable the consolidation of bylaws and a number of minor wording changes identified.

Proclamation

April 18-24, 2021 was proclaimed as National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week in Stratford. Mayor Ogden encourages all residents to register their decision to become organ and tissue donors and to let their family know of their wishes.
