The following items were discussed at the regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Town Council.

Resolution to Call Public Meeting

Council called a public meeting for Wednesday, January 2nd at 7:00pm to receive input from residents on an application from Pan American Properties Inc. to rezone parcel numbers 518910, 398610, 538132, and 538140 (approx. 4.05 acres) located on Dale Drive, from the Mason Road Commercial Zone (MRC) to the Mason Road Mixed Use Zone (MRMU). The proposed rezoning would allow for the construction of a 56 unit, 4 story apartment building, containing 30 affordable housing units.

Affordable Housing Tax Incentive

A revision to Schedule A of the Grants and Donations Bylaw was approved which will allow for a rebate on the full amount of the municipal property tax for the first 10 years after a building is constructed on units that receive a federal or provincial rent subsidy, capital grant or operating grant for affordable housing.


School/Sport Campus Land Appraisal & Acquisition Services RFP Awarded

Turner Drake & Partners were awarded the RFP to assist the Town with the valuation, selection and acquisition of the land required for a school/sports campus.

Committee Member Appointments

The Town received over 90 applications this fall through a public application process to fill the special and sub-committees mandated to assist Council in their work and deliberations. Committee members were approved for the current two year term which ends November 30, 2020. The remaining applicants will be approached to serve on a citizens reference panel which will be used throughout the year to advise Council on special ‘one-off' projects and initiatives.
