Media Release: Stratford Pleased With School Announcement
Posted on 11/16/2018

For Immediate Release: November 16, 2018

In today's capital budget the Town of Stratford is pleased to see funding being provided for a new secondary school within the Town limits. The province has committed $38M over the next four years for this project.

"The Town of Stratford is continuing to grow and we are pleased that the Province of PEI has recognized the need for school infrastructure in our community with the announcement today," commented Stratford Mayor David Dunphy. "We look forward to learning more of the details in the near future and to work getting underway".

The Town has been engaged with the Public Schools Branch and Province of PEI for many years to ensure a long-term solution in our community is realized for our students. There have been many contributors to the school discussion and the Town would like to recognize the work of Council, staff, the School Infrastructure Working Group, Home & School Associations, and residents in contributing to this announcement.

"It is the Town's hope that we, and our residents, will be engaged by the province as the process moves forward into planning and eventual construction phases," added Dunphy. "Stratford strongly believes that the best decisions are those which allow for resident voices to be heard."

The Town of Stratford will be reaching out to the Province of PEI in the coming days to request a meeting to learn more of the details and begin the process of next steps to see the project get underway as soon as possible.
