The Planning and Heritage Board shall, in addition to any duties contained in this bylaw, be appointed as the Planning Board as Council pursuant to Section 9 of the Planning Act, R.S.P.E.I., 1988, Cap. p-8, with all of the attendant duties and responsibilities.  The composition, terms of reference and sub-committees of the Planning and Heritage Board shall be as follows:

  • a chair who shall be a member of Council;
    • 
    
  • a vice-chair who shall be a member of Council;
    • 
    
  • up to two (2) additional members who shall be members of  Council; and
    • 
    
  • at least three (3) but not more than five (5) “at large" members who shall not be members of Council but who shall be residents of the Town.

Terms of Reference


    
    
  • to prepare, monitor, and as required review and consider revisions of the Town Official Plan and By-Laws and to consider revision of existing zoning and development bylaws;
    • 
    
  • to make recommendations on appropriate land use planning, subdivision and zoning policies subject to Town Council policy, to establish and monitor the administration of the Town subdivision and development application and approval processes;
    • 
    
  • to promote future development and redevelopment projects which are consistent with the Town's development goals and objectives;
    • 
    
  • to promote the Town as a residential, commercial, business and industrial location;
    • 
    
  • to ensure that the cultural, human and natural heritage of the Town is appreciated, preserved and enhanced.
    • 



 Sub-committees



        The Committee shall establish, determine the membership of, and set the terms of reference for sub-committees as required.
