Parks and Recreation

Introduction

The mandate of the recreation department is to provide residents of the town with full and affordable access to high calibre, locally responsive recreational programs and events, efficiently operated facilities, and safe, clean, and beautiful parks, trails and open spaces.

The Stratford Recreation Commission is responsible for the direction of operations within the Recreation Department, the day to day responsibilites of which are controlled by the Recreation Director and staff. The department currently has 5 fulltime year round staff, several part time positions and approximately 100 supervisors, instructors and referees. In addition there are over 250 volunteers involved and on hand to lend support to programs and special events. Our current Recreation Newsletter provides a great summary of the programs in Stratford.
