Cats

A number of residents call the town each year with complaints about cats that are a nuisance to them. The complaints include cats defecating in gardens and on lawns, damage to screens, dirt on cars dfrom paw prints etc. At present the Town of Stratford does not require cats to be licensed, tagged or leashed. The Safety Services Committee considered including cats in the anmial control bylaw, and decided tht education may be a better approach.

We ask that cat owners be aware of the nuisance your pet may cause to thoses around you. Please respect the private property of others by cleaning up after your cat and keeping them out of areas where they are causing a nuisanceor porperty damage to other.

The town will  monitor the calls and hope that neighbours will respect neighbours and that calls in this regard will decrease.

Foxes

It has been brought to the Town’s attention that there is an issue in some Stratford neighborhoods with residents feeding foxes. Residents are afraid for the safety of their small children and their pets. Please do not feed the foxes and please discourage them from coming onto your property, so that foxes and people maintain a healthy respect for each other. For your sake and the sake of the foxes, PLEASE… Do not feed the foxes, they are wild animals.
